Most hospitality tools manage people once they're hired. Before the Hire works earlier — the gap between an application arriving and a manager having time to talk to someone. Here is exactly what it takes on, and what it deliberately leaves alone.
Runs the first conversation
Applicants complete a 10–15 minute pre-interview on their own time, on their phone — no phone tag, no missed calls.
Asks the same job-related questions
Ten role-specific questions per position, with up to four contextual follow-ups when an answer needs more detail.
Writes a neutral summary
A plain-language summary with quoted evidence, plus one of two flags: Manager Review Recommended or Needs Manager Review.
Keeps the decision with people
There is no automatic hire and no automatic rejection. A manager reads the transcript and moves the person to Interview, Hired or Not Selected.
Shift scheduling and time clocks
Before the Hire covers hiring — not the roster. Your scheduling and labor-cost tools stay where they are.
Property management or reservations
It doesn't touch the PMS, bookings or housekeeping status.
Payroll or background checks
No pay processing and no screening reports — those stay with your current providers.
Face, voice or accent analysis
Candidates type their answers. Nothing is scored from a video, a voiceprint or an accent.
Your property gets its own link — like yourhotel.beforethehire.com. Put it in job posts, texts, or a QR code at the front desk.
They pick their role, give consent, and answer ten job-related questions one at a time. The AI asks a short follow-up when an answer needs more detail.
Open the dashboard, filter by position, read the transcript and rubric evidence, then set the person to New, Reviewed, Interview, Not Selected or Hired.
Each role has its own ten-question set — from airport shuttles and rollaway beds to banquet turnovers and laundry runs. The rubric behind them is shared, so applicants can be compared fairly within a role.
Every finished interview produces two things a manager can check: evidence against seven job-related areas, and a written summary that quotes what the applicant actually said. Ratings describe how much evidence is there — Strong evidence, Some evidence, Limited evidence, or Not enough information — never a hire or reject verdict.

The summary only ever says Manager Review Recommended or Needs Manager Review. Both mean a manager reads it.
Hiring tools get questioned — by candidates, by your corporate office, by a lawyer. This one is built to be explained: consent before anyone starts, a plain-language privacy notice, and a record you can hand over or delete.
